Contemporary

Contemporary is a style of dance that takes some of its foundations from Ballet and Jazz, however is a style completely of its own.

Contemporary focuses on parallel lines, contraction and release, falling, extension, floor work and with a strong focus on expression and exploration. Contemporary dance uses this technique foundation to endeavour to communicate concepts through movement. Students, along side learning the forms of the style, will have the opportunity to explore improvisation and self expression.

At Expressions, we follow the Australian Teachers Of Dancing (ATOD) syllabus. This syllabus is an excellently structured and progressive course. It incorporates up to date exercises and routines with challenging combinations and steps.

We offer yearly examinations in the ATOD syllabus, which gives students a goal to work towards and a chance to get some fantastic feedback from an external examiner.
